St Silas CE Primary School is a friendly, inclusive and hard-working school in the heart of Toxteth, Liverpool. Our vision is to ensure that each and every child, no matter what their background or circumstances, reaches their potential and leaves us ready for the next stage in life. We pride ourselves on the opportunities that our children are given to develop their cultural capital, and our art curriculum and enrichment programme play a huge part in this. The theme for our Year 5 children was based on their spring art lessons. This was incorporating the juxtaposition of Hans Holbein and Gustav Klimt. Our children have showcased skills of tone, contrast, shading, patterns and colour. The way in which the contrasting black and white portraits and colourful golden backgrounds helps the work to stand out. The children fully enjoyed learning the new skills and some have even been inspired to carry on drawing in their free time.

Then you can Vote online for your favourite shortlisted piece in April. The shortlisted entry from each school with the most votes wins a place in the public exhibition in June.
