dot-art Schools Exhibition Liverpool 2018

Following a judges’ shortlist and an online public vote, the 2018 exhibition showcased the winning work from each participating school. The overall winners of the 2018 dot-art Schools Competition were announced at a prize-giving ceremony on 21st June at the Liverpool School of Art And Design at LJMU, where the top three students from each of the participating schools in the Liverpool City Region were presented with a certificate by the Lord Mayor of Liverpool Cllr Christine Banks and the Deputy Lord Mayor Cllr Pete Brennan, and the six overall winners and runners up received their prizes.

Jacob Crummey from St Margaret’s Academy won the Year 9 award for his piece “Exploding Head 5”.

Harrison Fair from Eaves Primary School won the Year 6 award for his piece “The Rainforest Alive 11”.

Runners Up Awards in the secondary category were presented to Luke Hallman from Maricourt High School and Molly McMaster of Ormiston Bolingbroke Academy..

In the primary category Runners Up Awards were presented to Charlie Beesley of St Michaels Catholic Primary School and Alex Connor of St Bede’s Catholic Junior School.

The winners were awarded a variety of prizes from Tate Liverpool, the Albert Dock, Rennies Art Supplies, Cass Art and Tangle Teezer. In addition, as overall winner, Jacob received a scholarship to dot-art, giving him a year’s membership to dot-art’s network, allowing him to showcase and sell his work alongside professional artists.

A wonderful LJMU Scholarship prize was also announced by Professor Caroline Wilkinson, which will provide £1000 per year for 3 years toward course fees for the Year 9 winner and two runners up if they take up a course within the Arts Faculty.
