Crosby High School is a Local Authority specialist secondary school for pupils aged 11-16 with identified Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), all of whom are supported through an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The majority of pupils have moderate and/or complex learning needs, often encompassing a range of cognitive, communication, social and sensory profiles, including needs associated with Autism Spectrum Conditions, speech and language difficulties, social, emotional and mental health challenges, and physical or sensory impairments.
The school’s vision and ethos centre on inclusivity, celebrating diversity and achievement, and on providing an environment in which every pupil can develop socially, academically and personally through tailored learning pathways. Crosby High School emphasises respect, responsibility, empathy, trust and kindness as core values and fosters partnerships with families and external professionals to ensure holistic support for pupils.
The curriculum at Crosby High School is individualised and flexible, blending formal academic learning with developmental and additional support tailored to each student’s strengths, needs and EHCP outcomes. This includes structured academic subjects with opportunities for nationally accredited certification, alongside programmes that focus on communication, independence, life skills, emotional regulation and wellbeing. Specialist interventions (such as Thrive, speech & language input and wellbeing support) are integral to personal development, helping pupils build confidence and prepare for post-16 pathways into further education, employment and independent living.
Through this personalised approach, the school aims to ensure that pupils with a wide range of SEND make progress towards their long-term goals in a safe, supportive, and community-oriented setting.
