Hungerford Primary Academy is a two form entry primary school in Crewe, Cheshire. At Hungerford, we take great pride in ensuring that each and every student has the chance to engage with and appreciate art within our school. We believe in valuing every child as an artist and strive to offer them meaningful artistic experiences with the opportunity to express their personal emotions and feelings. Our goal is to demonstrate that art is not just about the end result, but also about the process of creating, exploring, discovering, and experimenting. For their entries this year, Year 5 pupils produced Hokusai inspired art using a mixture of art media including watercolours, black pens, pencils and coloured pencils. They focused on the Japanese artist, Katsushika Hokusai, and his famous 1831 artwork “The Great Wave off Kanagawa”, which shows three fishing boats moving through a storm, with large cresting waves and Mount Fuji in the background.
