School Champion

Mosspits Lane Primary School have worked for the past ten years to create and refine a scheme of work in Art that is unique to the school. We ensure that over the course of each child's school career, they experience art which encompasses a variety of techniques, styles, cultural significance, and media. They explore artists of a wide range of backgrounds, gender, historical/modern or current significance, and those which are both local or from across the globe. We are proud of the art scheme we have created, as each year the children build upon the skills, vocabulary, knowledge and creative outlook which they have developed in previous years. Each topic includes a chance to explore artists or art movements, experimentation and development of technique with materials, reflection of their own opinions of art, progression in art-specific vocabulary and the planning and creation of a final piece before evaluating and reflecting upon their own work. Children enjoy Art at Mosspits as they are challenged appropriately, are aware and proud of their progress and are encouraged to express their ideas and identities freely.
